What is a thermal imaging survey?
Thermal images work best when the house is heated and the outdoor temperature is low, ideally at least 10°C lower than indoors, so surveys are booked for cold mornings or evenings. We image the top-floor ceilings, the room-in-roof if you have one and the loft, and explain what each cold patch is likely to be. More about a thermal imaging survey.

Why book with us in Welshpool
No pressure selling
You get everything in writing and decide in your own time.
Plain-English advice
We explain what we find in plain English, and say so when nothing needs doing.
Fixed written price
The price on the quote is the price you pay. It only changes if you change the job, or if we find something hidden, such as rot, and you agree the change in writing first.
Written findings
You get photos and a plain list of what we found and what we would do about it.
How much does a thermal imaging survey cost in Welshpool?
This work is not an energy-saving material for VAT, so it is standard-rated if VAT applies. Where it is done alongside insulation, the quote shows each part separately.
Building regulations in Wales
Wales has its own Approved Document L. Insulation alone is not normally notified, but conversions need building control. How the rules work across the UK.
Questions about a thermal imaging survey in Welshpool
Do you take on jobs outside Welshpool?
Yes. We also work in Newtown and Machynlleth and elsewhere in Powys.
Do you charge extra to travel to Welshpool?
Not normally. Our guide prices include normal travel to Welshpool. If an address needs a ferry or an unusually long journey, we tell you the cost before you book.
Will I get a written quote for work in Welshpool?
Yes. Every quote is in writing with the work, the price and what is included, so you can compare it properly.
Can thermal imaging find gaps in loft insulation?
Yes. Missing or thin insulation shows as colder patches on the ceiling below.
Is a thermal imaging survey worth it?
It is most useful where a problem is hard to find or you want to check someone else's work. For a simple loft you can see into, a standard survey is usually enough.
