Loft insulation questions
Short answers to the questions we are asked most.
How much does loft insulation cost?
From bare joists, our guide prices start at about £495 for a terraced house. The Energy Saving Trust puts the typical professionally installed cost at about £750, and about £600 for a top-up. See the prices page for every home type.
How long does loft insulation take?
Most lofts are done in a day. Large lofts, boarding, clearing and removal of old insulation can take longer.
Is the survey free?
Yes, the survey and written quote are free for installation work. Standalone surveys, condensation investigations and thermal imaging are priced on their pages.
How deep should loft insulation be?
At least 270 mm of mineral wool, as recommended by the Energy Saving Trust.
Can I still store things in my loft?
Yes, on raised boarding that sits above the insulation. Boards laid straight on the joists squash it.
Do you offer grants or free insulation?
We quote for privately paid work. If you might qualify for a funded scheme, we tell you first and point you to the official route.
Is there VAT on loft insulation?
Installing insulation in a home is zero-rated until 31 March 2027, then 5%. Boarding, ladders and vents are standard-rated if VAT applies.
Will my loft get damp after insulation?
Not if the eaves stay clear and warm, moist air from the house is kept out. We fit eaves trays and look for air leaks as part of the job.
Do you remove spray foam?
Yes, but only after an independent inspection recommends it. We do not carry out the inspection ourselves.
Which areas do you cover?
England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Islands and remote addresses are surveyed by arrangement.
Who will do the work?
Our installation team, which can include vetted subcontract installers working under our supervision. Your contract is with S&K Property Investments and Improvement Ltd.
How do I pay?
Payment terms are on your quote. We never ask for payment on the doorstep or in cash.
Can I cancel?
If you book at home or online, you usually have 14 days to cancel. The terms page explains how.
Do you have reviews?
We are a new business and do not show reviews until we have real ones from real customers. We will ask you for one after your job.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. We quote for single rented homes, portfolios, blocks of flats, commercial roof voids and new-build sites.
How do I get a price?
Use the guide price tool for an instant range, or send the form and we will arrange a free survey and fixed written quote.
