What is raised loft boarding?
Laying boards straight onto the joists compresses the insulation to the joist depth, which can halve its value, and can trap moisture under the boards. Loft legs screw to the joists and carry the boards at the right height. More about raised loft boarding.
- Moisture-resistant chipboard or OSB boards
- Loft legs fixed to the joists
- Full-depth insulation under the boarded area
Why book with us in Cardiff
We measure before we quote
Existing depth, joist spacing, wiring and the tank are checked, not guessed.
Boarding done properly
Storage boards go on loft legs, never straight onto the insulation.
Clear contact details
Your quote says who to call with questions before, during and after the work.
Tidy work
Dust sheets on the route in and every bit of packaging taken away.
How much does raised loft boarding cost in Cardiff?
This work is not an energy-saving material for VAT, so it is standard-rated if VAT applies. Where it is done alongside insulation, the quote shows each part separately.
Building regulations in Wales
Wales has its own Approved Document L. Insulation alone is not normally notified, but conversions need building control. How the rules work across the UK.
Questions about raised loft boarding in Cardiff
Do you cover all of CF10?
Yes, we cover the CF10 postcode district and the districts around Cardiff.
What do I need to do before you arrive in Cardiff?
Clear a path to the hatch and, if you can, move stored items away from the area we will be working in. Tell us about anything heavy or fragile.
Will I get a written quote for work in Cardiff?
Yes. Every quote is in writing with the work, the price and what is included, so you can compare it properly.
How much weight can a boarded loft take?
Ordinary household storage such as boxes and cases is fine on most lofts. Heavy items need the joists assessing. Trussed roofs are lighter than traditional cut roofs.
Is loft boarding included in VAT relief?
No. Boarding is not an energy-saving material, so it is standard-rated if VAT applies, while the insulation underneath can be zero-rated.
