Can I still get a grant for loft insulation?
Some households can. Funding now depends on where you live and your income or benefits. ECO4 runs until 31 December 2026, the Great British Insulation Scheme closed on 31 March 2026, and the Warm Homes Plan funds upgrades for low-income households, partly through councils.
What is available in each nation?
- England: ECO4 until 31 December 2026; Warm Homes Plan support for low-income households, including Warm Homes: Local Grant through councils
- Wales: Warm Homes Nest for eligible low-income households; ECO4 until 31 December 2026
- Scotland: Home Energy Scotland grant and loan, and Warmer Homes Scotland
- Northern Ireland: the Affordable Warmth Scheme, delivered by the Housing Executive for households under £23,000, and NISEP
How do I avoid grant scams?
Be wary of cold calls and doorstep offers of free insulation. Check any offer against the official scheme website for your nation before giving personal or bank details.
What if I do not qualify?
A privately paid loft insulation job is one of the cheapest energy improvements there is, and installation in a home is zero-rated for VAT until 31 March 2027.
