Building regulations in Wales

Wales has its own Approved Document L under the Building Regulations 2010 as they apply in Wales. Insulating more than half of a loft counts as renovating a thermal element and must meet the Welsh energy standard. Insulation alone is not normally notified, but rafter insulation that is part of a conversion is building work that needs building control. We confirm the route for your address on the quote.

Funding in Wales

Warm Homes Nest, run for the Welsh Government, offers free improvements to eligible low-income households.
ECO4, the energy supplier scheme, runs until 31 December 2026 for eligible households.
Check Nest's eligibility checker before agreeing to any funded offer.

The Energy Saving Trust puts a typical professionally installed loft at about £750 from bare joists, or £600 to top up from 120 mm.
